Kirstie Allsopp criticises 'failing' comprehensive schools

Far be it from me to say I told you so

The abolition of grammar schools in most parts of the country has stopped thousands of children “getting on” in life, according to Kirstie Allsopp.  Telegraph 16th July 2013.

A message I have been peddling ever since becoming involved in political activity and blogging. For there can be little doubt that the level of political interference in the 11+ Grammar School/Technical College system is at the root of educational problems that have manifested themselves in recent decades.

What does it take to convince the political numbskulls who set about disbanding this system, together with apprenticeships, in favour of comprehensives, to realise how they have dis-advantaged generations of children. By developing this underclass of unemployable teenagers, we see in evidence today.

We should without fear or favour set about re-introducing Grammar Schools, rather than try to raise expectations beyond levels of ability in the way we do now with fee-paying universities. If a young person setting out in life post education wants to get-on enough, they will find a way.

So maybe further education by the system of City and Guilds and Night School which existed in my day and throughout the 40s, 50s and 60s  is superior to anything we have trted to replace it with in the name of political expediency.

It's time the pendulum swung back.

They’re at it again

By tomtom

The Europhile Kids - Now it’s the Dave ‘n’ Ken Show

How much longer do we have to put up with these plonkers telling us we need to be in the EU to have influence on the world stage. They are so wrong!  Nafta, Efta, they're made up of individual countries, coming together to trade, Yes?

So when Rt. Hon. MP Clarke claims we wouldn't be talking about free trade with the USA and Canada were it not for the EU, he is as usual spouting rubbish in support of his Europhile views.  Seems he's had a head to head with Dave who thinks he will be an influence on the world stage only via the EU.

But we were a member of Efta long before PM Heath conned a generation into voting for membership of the Europen Economic Community Don't they understand why we call this country Great Britain. We can stand on our own feet make our own laws grow our own food and trade the world on our own terms.

We have no need of Europe and these idiot Eurocrats trying to drag us down to their level. But so long as leading politicians espouse the views of this pair of plonkers, we'll be saddled with all this EU red tape and we've had enough of it.

Will Dave ever really Geddit?

Methinks not

By sweeping away bureaucracy we’ll help trade to flow freely across the world, adding money to economies globally, supporting business and creating jobs. That will make everyone better off, including the world’s poorest people who need the most help – reads the latest missive from Dave’s desk in10 Downing St.

Good idea Dave, so how about sweeping away the bureaucracy that is plaguing every waking hour of our daily grind from the unelected elite. The Eurocrats who think we would be good Europeans if only we’d bow and scrape to every nuance of this elite band of EU Busybodies, who deign to control us in autonomy. Sweep some of that away and we might begin to believe you are running this small island and not just trumpeting your ideas on the world stage, as you constantly remind us.

No one in this country would turn their back on the poorest in the world but charity begins at home. Though with a silver spoon in your mouth and the advantage of a public school education you probably have no idea what it’s like in our street.

By any measure Dave if you carry on the same way for the next couple of years as you have for the past three. You’ll be a dead duck as far as winning the next election goes. Not a prayer can help you nor will  proclaiming your credentials on a world stage, for never has a PM been so out of touch with mainstream sentiment, in respect of how Joe Sixpack thinks when it comes to Europe and what is happening here good old Blighty.

The Brits are up to the back teeth with European dogma and it gets worse by the day. Even the founding fathers at one time or another admitted the people had to be led blindfold by the hand, for they’d never understand the merit of being a good European. From what I’ve seen of your tenure of the highest office in the land since you took over, you are firmly in that camp too.

Maybe we don’t understand the merits, but we certainly understand the demerits. They’re writ large in 6ft letters across the entrance to the Eurotunnel: (Abandon hope all ye who enter here).

Is a New Glass/Steagall act the Answer?

Liam Halligan reckons it is and we all know who abandoned it don't we Mr Clinton.

Dear Mr Halligan,

For all your banging on about the re-introduction of the Glass/Steagall Act. It does not not need a high flying economist to see what the abandonment of this legislation did to the world of high and low finance. since '86. Though what followed probably had more to do with the oil shock of '73 when 3gallons of petrol cost £1.00 and £2.00 took me all the way to Commercial Street and back - 260 miles, to replenish the stock for my Shirt Stall on our Open Market.

That Glass/Steagall needs to be re-introduced is staring everybody in the face. But the world at large seems to be stunned by the audacity of these intrepid souls the Fractional Reserve Bankers. These people with nothing more in mind, than to fill their boots and clip-clop off into the sunset. We have no need of these bandits to secure our financial future. All it has done is jack up the price of every friggin' commodity known to man.

While back in the 1960s, setting out to make a mark in the world on the princely wage of £13-7s-6d/week, I can state categorically that I live little differently today. The only accoutrements now that were not even invented then, were a microwave oven, a computer and a colour TV.

The average mortgage then was around £2,500 repayable at around £13.00/month. While the average weekly wage is a now a stratospheric £463 including bonuses and the simple question is: Exactly who is any better off for it? Is an increment of £450/week over 50years the price of developing these 3 items?

In addition to which, we even had a pension system that was working, before the politicians who didn’t have a clue started grabbing chunks of it to cling on to power and we suffered 13 years of the disastrous Blair/Brown Tragedy of Errors. So the real question here is who is conning us now? Is it the politicians or the bankers or are they in cahoots to make sure it sticks?

Answers on the back of  a 10/- shilling first class stamp.

Best regards

Tom.

UKIP if you want to – But they’re going nowhere

By tomtom
In answer to the query – are the Lib-Dems a spent force?

Why punish Nick he made the best fist of it in the circumstances and gave his fellow travellers a taste of power. But all it has achieved is to prove the Lib-Dems are indeed a spent force, out of tune with mainstream attitudes, an irrelevance in present Tory ideas of a modernised Great Britain.

Though whether the debris left behind by new Labour has changed the UK horizon for the better or forever has to be at best – doubtful. What we really need, is a return to the Anglo-Saxon values of a bygone age when value for money ruled OK.

Hyping up the value of everything to satisfy the ambitions of the Fractional Reserve Bankers is getting us nowhere. All it does is allow them to fill their boots and clip-clop off into the sunset weighed down with their spoils.

While new Labour has over the years between 1924/2010 made several attempts to change the face of Britain with their Fabian Socialist ideals at the forefront, but only finished up inflicting great damage on our Anglo-Saxon way of life, our business practices and our English Common Law.

We must recover primacy for English Common Law over the ridiculous rulings of the European Court of Human Rights. It is making a mockery of 1000 years of British Parliamentary practice.  We need a return to true Anglo-Saxon values to restore our credibility across the globe and imbue these values in developing nations.

It’s something the Toffs Club appears to be incapable of. All they are set on doing, is whatever it takes to retain power across the political spectrum, by preserving the status quo for the Toffs. A situation that does not chime so well for Joe Sixpack and the rest of the 92% of us it takes to sustain the Toffs position in society.

784, is the number you should remember. 7% of the Uk’s population control 84% of the country’s wealth and they do it by using the other 93% of us, to make sure it stays this way. It has to be changed. A return to true Democracy is all it needs – Democracy First – UK.

Lady Thatcher Dies – Reported the BBC – What happens next?

By tomtom
What should happen next - might be more appropriate

A silly question – though it’s little more than we might expect from our Busted Broadcasting Company. With regard to Maggie who or what could follow her? A woman in a man’s world, she took them on and beat them at their own game. They couldn’t take it could they? So they ganged-up on her and that was despicable.

You could say intransigence did for her, but that’s not the whole picture. What she had to do required such a quality, when it came to the Unions. But she didn’t waver and beat them where others before her had failed.

Personally I never agreed entirely with the way she went about things and could only stand in awe, at the way she triumphed against formidable odds. A true champion of British Interest she put the Great back in Britain. It’s still there today and will forever be – her enduring legacy.

So long as we can avoid falling into the Bear Traps Labour set for us with their Fabian Socialist Dictat and their give us another chance mantra. Fat chance I’d say – for once we’ve re-distributed the deficit, got the spending mentality under control and decided how to restrain the bankers.

We can get on with trading the world on our own terms and leave the Germans and their almighty Vaterland, to sort out what to do with the lame ducks of Europe. The Spirit of Maggie must and can live on and her Blood and Guts Bulldog determination can win the day, as we go forward to a Great British Future, as true blue Thatcherite Revolutionaries.

If you’re looking for an answer that’s what can happen next

A Royal Charter for the Press?

Why Not?

All this stuff about MPs tinkering with a Royal Charter is nonsense. No incoming government is bound by what the previous lot did so if Labour - God forbid; were ever to get another crack of the whip they could foist their ideas on us then. But to try it by default with the aid of Nick and his buddies that's pernicious nonsense. Especially when they claim it's for the protection of the victims

They want legal constraints for MPs to protect their peccadilloes, their expense fiddles and their privacy, with so many cuckoos in the nest at Lib-Dem HQ. What else could Nick do but disagree with the idea of a Royal Charter?

But Dave's got 'em rumbled, Labour and the Lib-Dems and he's not letting them get away with it. It's a Royal Charter or nothing. The big problem either way is rogue reporters who distort the facts. If you were ever on the wrong end of such tactics, you'll know exactly what I mean.

How to stop it? Virtually impossible and no amount of new legislation will ever change that. Nevertheless; it will be good to see an end to the PCC acting on behalf of their Fellow Travellers. So hopefully an Independent Commission will do what the previous outfit never did. Evaluate complaints without bias. How do I know this? I’ve been there.

“Ending our Gateway to Europe status would be a big loss”

The Europhilliacs are at it again

By our tomtom

Britain’s Europhilliac employers have so far, been unequivocal in how they see the UK’s relationship with the European Union, wrote the Telegraph’s Damien Reece.

The core message to David Cameron from Big Business is:- “Do not encourage an EU exit.”  Why not Mr. Reece, are we to take it as read from recent comment you are suffering from Europhillia? Surely you are not of the opinion that all Red-blooded Heterosexual Anglo-Saxon men, women and children should be made to labour under the Yoke of Brussels Eurocrats for the rest of their natural without a smidgeon of revolt., for the sake of Big Business.

But then Big Business dances to a different drummer, from the rest of us. Their only motivation is Tomorrow’s Profit Margin. I know this because as a Local Councillor and Vice President of the Local Chamber of Trade I attended meetings with this auguste body of opinion.

What it told me in no uncertain manner was that their sole Raison d’être is tomorrow’s profit figure and whatever degree of insouciance they can engender in the City Fathers to sustain it, is Fair Game. Though in effect, this is to some extent an obvious motivator, it totally ignores any function in relative terms to the well-being of the nation, as a whole.

It reminds me of the scene from the Movie Clear and Present Danger. Where Escobado the Columbian Drug Baron; is bemoaning the attack on his underground cocaine processing facility, by Ritter’s Band of Covert Mercenaries. They’ve demolished his factory with high explosives and as he inspects the damage he’s screaming vehemently at the top of his voice:- “They’re stealing my money.”

Well that’s what it feels like to your average Joe Sixpack back in this United Kingdom, as these EU Invaders, these economic migrants flood in. They’re stealing our money, using the system that was supposed to protect our own UK subjects from the vagaries of the Anglo-Saxon style of economic cycling with Social Security Benefits and the like.

This influx has generated a Rising tide of Criminal Activity by cut throats, thieves, pick-pockets and racketeers, assisted by naïve officialdom and misguided legal officials with an eye for the main chance when it comes to ‘Billing Opportunities’.

Whilst it is uncertain that these practices leave definitive traces of illegality, the evidence that such practices are becoming widespread is there in the statistics. Whilst this may not be bona-fide evidence as demanded by our judicial system, it is nevertheless self-evident to anyone caught up in the net.

It's not the place of our United Kingdom to accept the latent stupidity of propping up a host of economic migrants from Lame-Duck economies across Europe. Nor is it our place to substantially contribute to a corrupt system of disbursing subsidies to those EU Leaders promoting the emergence of a Federal Superstate that may not after all their Hubris ever have wings of its own.

So do we standby while Criminal Gangs from Eastern Europe pile in, across open borders to rob us blind till we’re all skint and the Eurocrats of Brussels have dragged us down to their level. On the back of the pernicious degradation only they are capable of.

It's time to get real with the mess our Bankers and Political Masters of the Universe have created for the Common Brit. It is a diabolical mess which they together with the antipathy of almost sixty percent of the electorate regard our system of Democracy.

Its time for change and not the kind of change that promotes minority interests to think they can punch above their weight. When they’re purely motivating a certain section of the populace on the back of dissatisfaction, rather then promoting Freedom, Choice and Opportunity which should be the mantra of the mainstream parties. Should they begin to think further than the end of their collective nose and free the people, rather than try to suppress them with a police and client state, of epic proportion.

So Come-on you Tories get your act together on behalf of the Common Good for all the people of these 6,000 + islands that comprise our United Kingdom. In the words of that great statesman William Ewart Gladstone: “Let the money fructify in the pockets of the people.” Or am I correct in assuming that 'Damian' is the off-spring of the Devil?
