With the help & assistance of Hindsight

A lone voice Crying in the Wilderness

To address the social problems of today requires the sickness that is loose in society to be dealt with. How do we do this? By restoring discipline and respect for authority. Though if authority in the shape of Parliament and other forces of Law and Order, carry on like the script of a Carry-On film, you finish up with the situation we have today, where respect for authority in the home, the school and the rule of law have been lost.

In the home, the school and the playground, discipline and the ability of teachers, heads and parents to dispense it, has been eroded. We will get nowhere with these problems of riotous indiscipline in this recent context, till the basic underlying problem of indiscipline is dealt with. Unless and untill you treat the underlying problem (years of trouble-shooting as an engineer has taught me) nothing will be changed.

Since 1996 when I first became involved in active politics as an elected member, I have canvassed my view of (a sickness loose in society that is not being dealt with) at local and national level. By editing and publishing my Bullet Newsletter and attempts to engage everyone across the Community through an Anti-Social Working Party. (WASP).

Over a decade ago, I called together Officers of the Law, Officers from the Youth & Education Departments of the Local Council, Housing Associations, Developers, even including Representatives from the Hon David Blunkett’s Home Office, down to Officers of the Local Council and the Head Masters and Head Mistresses of the Local Schools and the public at large. All to little avail and the evidence of all this effort is there in Black & White to prove every word. It’s all on the record.

Reporters I have spoken with about local problems to the point of expounding my views on indiscipline in the home and schoolroom, have rendered little but the impression I was banging my head against a brick wall. It was never going to be newsworthy till it manifested itself in the way it has and they did not wish to pursue it in the written article. So I set out to establish and publicise my efforts through an Anti-Social Working Party, which by definition still exists to this day.

Though I have to say based on my experiences, over these fifteen years, everyone in the mix of responsibilities in this respect seems to prefer to leave the real decisions and the action which needs to be taken to someone else and there it rests. Well it does till something like the recent rioting manifests itself. Then the true result of all this inaction explodes in living colour, for the whole wide world to see.

Far be it from me to say I told you so! But there are people like me who saw it coming and my track record on this speaks for itself. We tried our damnedest to do something about it and we have a right to stand up and say our time has come, the pendulum has gone far enough to the left it’s time it swung back. Time that real discipline was restored, not to the extent of the hang ’em and flog ’em brigade, but born out of a true sense of personal responsibility.

The Real Treasure Island?

Peter Hitchins is no lone voice crying in the wilderness!

Police water, cannon and plastic bullets? After 50 years of the most lavish welfare state on earth? What an abject failure wrote Peter Hitchins in the Sunday Mail.

But he was not alone in predicting somekind of come-uppance for a social system, which is the envy of every economic migrant, harbouring fantasies of a good life, if only they could make their way to Treasure Island, as these six thousand odd sacred isles came to be known, across the war shattered remnants of the Middle-East, the Indian & African sub-continents.

Not only are we hostage to fortune for all this, but for all the European Utility Companies too that piled in to rape the British consumer, with their rip-off prices for water, gas and electricity. Far above what they are allowed to get away with in their own domestic markets, where the Anglo-Saxon model is denied to all and sundry.

Is it any wonder that EdF and E-oN piled in here, on Treasure Island? To bolster their balance sheets on the back of lackadaisical governments more intent on clinging onto power for their own vested interests. Who treated the public at large, as no more than Canon Fodder for those intent on raping the consumer, for all he was worth. For the sake of the tax revenues, it generated for their Treasuries.

100 – 1 the odds, that the next thing you’ll be hearing about, is old people dying of hypothermia in a few months time, because they can’t afford to light up the measly one bar electric heater or gas fire they depend on, to fend of the worst effects of another Artic Winter.

Probably one of dis-content as the full effects of European Union at the cost of £48million/day bears down on the economic well-being of Perfidious Albion. It has to be time to take a step back from all this mayhem and find a way to restore Great Britain to its pre-eminence and assert its authority to set an example to rest of the world, as we did when we created the Greatest Empire the World has ever known.

It’s time to remind the rest of the world that the Anglo-Saxon Model is the only way to go, if they wish to have peace and prosperity for all. Democracy must be the way forward for all the people of the world.  So they alone can choose how they wish to be governed and the end to dictatorships in whatever forms it morphs to, EU or otherwise, as the despots across the world try desperately to cling on to power by mass extermination of any dissidents. With bullets or economic means.

Euro peril escalates, as France vacillates

Outright denial no antidote to Rumour Control Central

As France fiddles while the rest of Europe burns? The Euro is a dead duck and like an alcoholic in denial, there can be no cure till admission prevails.

But no sweat I have a solution. All it needs is a re-christened Euro. Let’s call it the new Reichsmark and rename the ECB, the Bundesbank. Begone you doubters, renaissance is at hand. All it needs is the realisation that Anglo Saxon realism, rules OK and its problem solved.

It was always going to be this way, because no one across the entire continent of Europe can organise like the Teutonic machine. You have to hand it to them for a nation with little in the way of natural resources; Germany has used their one exclusive, almighty talent of organisational ability, to raise the ante post bet.

Can it succeed economically where all else fails on the back of exporting superior over-engineering. Quite possibly the answer is yes, but what it really lacks is the Anglo-Saxon flair for design. There really is no way that over-engineering can be a substitute for design flair. It just doesn’t work.

You can engineer a product to last far longer by over-engineering, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and people will soon junk stuff because they get fed up with its appearance, when something which appears to be new comes along. So inevitably the blending of Anglo Saxon realism and Teutonic engineering is the real solution to the woes of Europe.

The theory that it needed to be bound together in an economic colossus, to match the USA, has proved to be a bogus argument. For ever since the Wall Street Casino set out to rule the world and the strait-jacket of a duo-metallic monetary system was abandoned in Europe, circa 1717. The present hiatus has been brewing.

The final nail in the coffin of postwar European endeavours to build an empire to match the USA was delivered on August 15th 1971 when the US$ effectively became a Fiat Currency an IoU. That nations across the world and in particular China, as it clung to Communist Rule while vying to be the factory for the world in consumer manufactures, failed to realise that default by the USA had from that moment on, become an inevitability.

The great American Casino known as Wall Street, could not believe its luck as the hi-rollers in China, feted for their gambling instincts, piled into US IoUs. Now they have accrued billions of what are effectively US junk bonds, they stand to be the nation above all others with the most to lose, as America’s Wall Street prepares for default.

Siren voices claim a return to the gold standard is the way forward, but the fact that the value of the precious metal would need to plateau out at a value equivalent to the US IoUs issued since August 15th 1971 at around 35/45/60,000 $/ troy ounce, invalidates this argument in perpetuity and other solutions will need to be devised.

What is the answer? Revaluation, devaluation, default, it really does have to be one of these three things. Though even a revaluation to realistic values, would mean upheaval on such a vast scale that it has to be discounted. Devaluation solves nothing; it just postpones the day of reckoning. So the only real solution is default. Debts are written off, credit is destroyed and the roundabout starts all over again.

Demise of the Speed Camera?

Takes the milking of the motorist to a new level

Whatever happened to the Secretary of State’s declaration that, “War on the Motorist is over,” as Council’s across the UK, line up to bring in heinous parking charges around the clock. Their excuse? That they need to plug the gap caused by government spending cuts?

Have these clapped out administrations no clue of the difficulties this causes to local businesses and recovery on the High Streets of Britain, as they raid the pockets of anybody daft enough to fall for these failed politician’s ability, to recognise that we’re all in it together and they need to balance their books too.

How about the councillors who turn up once in a blue moon to a full council meeting, in order to qualify for collection of their pin money allowances. The remit for their so-called inconvenience, endured in serving the electorate. The people who thought they had put them there, to reflect their views in organising the way their towns, cities and villages are organised.

No longer is it possible to see that this happens in the best interests of the public at large. More likely it’s in some self-serving capacity, to make a stress free life for their immediate families out of the perks it brings to their table. Based on the back of platitudes expressed in their glossy election day literature, which bears no reality to real purpose.

It seems like a call-back procedure is about the only way to ensure these elected members live up to their pledges and promises. So people can clearly see whether they are getting what it said on the tin and if not, can have available a way to dump the chumps.

To keep relying on this mantra that spending cuts are forced on them by Central Government is a misnomer of real consequence. For the amount government is spend ing is set to rise year on year to the end of this Parliament. What we are seeing is a Redistribution of the Deficit, to promote the growth that will enable us to balance the books and keep the International Shylocks at bay, as they queue up for their Juice.

(For the uninitiated the Shylocks are the Money Market Manipulators and the Juice is their interest charges).

UK economy grows just 0.2pc, doubts over Plan A

Another load of Tosh (Courtesy of the Telegraph)

The only doubt worth talking about, is the doubt that would exist, if we had no deficit reduction plan in place to satisfy the shylocks. What does AAA rating stand for these days after the debacle these Rating Agencies had in place back in the dark days of 2008. Especially now inflation is heading off into the stratosphere.  A valve cap for removing the valve, bought yesterday £1.00. I’m flabbergasted, should have gone in the shed and made one.

A big problem for the generation that went on a plastic spending spree back in the decade from ‘98 to ‘08 however, is the fact that realisation has yet to dawn. So the lessons which flow from that realisation have been swept under the carpet for the past three years by low interest rates and the printing of IoUs, briefly described as Quantitive Easing.

For a while it can and did create a false dawn, but like all false dawns it will bring no respite when it comes to the hard-head bankers, intent on re-building the reserves and the bonus pool they believe themselves to be entitled to. The main reason for this mentality of course, is fear, as they lost control of their senses and jumped on the Blair/Brown, ♫It can only get better♫, bandwagon.

Who knows what ghosts of past indiscretion still lurk in the deep dark recesses of the banking world’s ledgers of despair? Several well known economists have been urging them to ‘fess up’, be as honest as the day is long, ever since the day their profligacy was called to account, but are we any wiser as to the true obligations of their loan book.

It’s practically impossible to know for they dare not reveal the true state of their obligations, though we know when we see the total public liability in round figures including maxed out credit cards, personal loans and mortgages that thousands of millions are outstanding, mostly supported by sky-rocketting property vales that still have someway left to fall, if reality is to prevail.

It’s not over yet and though 0.2% growth is not brilliant, we need to ask where we might have been if the present shadow chancellor and his plan ‘B’ were in fact holding sway. It’s easy to say things could have been better but the truth is it could never have got much worse and anykind of growth in the present situation is to be welcomed. so we should be pleased to have a chancellor in place who will not waver.

Power to your elbow Rt. Hon. George Osbourne MP., Chancellor.

Tell me the old old Story

Greek baleout is Default by another name

Restricted default? Is it bird, is it a plane? No its Super von Rumpoy and Barroso to the Fudge. Do they really expect the shylocks to believe all this guff? Deep down in their heart of hearts, I guess not, but what alternative do they have? Other than to Fess Up and  bring the whole Guacamole House of Cards tumbling down?

Thirty maybe forty years to pay it off and to cap it all, a Euro version of the Marshall Plan but then all this has done is offer the Greeks a few months of leeway and that’s it. The basket cases already suffering austerity cuts and those queuing up to join the Euro without the slightest chance of making a fist of it, are living in a world of self delusion, which is not a and never can be, a world without end…..

Huge amounts of money and the interest charges are at stake here for the shylock banks and institutions that piled in to buy these bonds in the first place. It would be good to know what the actual liabilities are if it all went belly up tomorrow, in the same provisional way they assess the viability of pension funds.

Of course to a great degree, as long as the payment deadlines are met and it doesn’t matter where the dosh comes from, the shylocks will  hold fire. For the longer it drags on the better their chance to recoup a larger proportion of their outlay or stake. In reality that’s what it is, nothing more elaborate than a stake and a simple bet, Who dares wins with a first past the post mentality and the Euro Taxpayer as the lender of last resort.

Where will it end who can tell? If as the chief cheerleaders of the EU stand up time and again to tell everybody and his dog they will do everything needed to turn the tide, they have to be the King Canutes of their day. The Emperors with no clothes or the little Dutch boy with his finger in the dam. Take your pick for it’s not a pretty sight.

So when the House of Cards does finally come crashing down, as inevitably it must, we need to be on the other side of the world, even if we’re isolated and alone, So long as we have control of our own destiny and the power to set our own interest rates and distribute our deficit in the areas we’ve calculated are necessary to promote growth. We can soldier on, in the sure and certain knowledge that  we can leave the rest of the Euro Zone to stew in their own juice. For it is not too big to fail (TBTF).

The EU can linger in the sick bay for as long as it takes the penny to drop and we can carry-on regardless rebuilding Perfidious Albion as the finest teacher the world has ever known. Protecting our Fisheries and Farmers, making our own laws and ensuring our City of London, remains the Clearing Bank of the world, in perpetuity.

Hackergate

As the world turns and the postmortem proceeds

Can this ever be anything more than the kind of witch-hunt we witnessed in our Westminster Parliament recently, fuelled by mass hysteria and other more obscure covert reasoning by politicians in mortal danger of being dumped, either by the electorate or their peers?

In a multi-billion dollar publishing and broadcasting empire, can the men or women at the top, the managers ever have really have known anything about what went down on the street, as the hungry wolf-pack sought the inside track to their next big story?

Unless these managers were down there on the street, in amongst the men or women, who made all this happen, it’s highly unlikely. Such matters were most probably concealed from them and they probably only became aware of it when revelations of what had been going-on, became public knowledge. In which case, they could do little more than react to events.

Events, claimed Harold Macmillan our PM in the late fifties and early sixties, were the thing he feared most of all when in office. Why? Because everybody and his dog expected the man in charge to know the ins and outs in detail, of things that had already occurred. That he should just by virtue of his position have known all about it.

These are things, which unless you were there on the spot when they happened, are probably the most difficult to know with any certainty, for the very reason, that you could not have been there at the point of delivery and had to rely on hearsay. So it’s only after the event when people, look at every tiny scrap of evidence in detail, that it soon becomes apparent that to know what really went on is highly improbable.
So there’s little more you can expect them to say, other than they did not know anything till it all began to emerge. That’s about the top and bottom of it and in all probability was the perfect truth. Of course they have the facility to quiz the people who should have known, but probably didn’t get very far with that one, for a reporter’s sources have always been held to be sacrosanct.

So if wrong doing was afoot the management can always claim immunity from this point of view. What goes round comes round and it is highly unlikely that even a judge led enquiry can uncover what really went down on the street, for as Piers Morgan revealed in his recent book, it needed only a four letter code and open sesame, hey presto. The world of instant communication is your oyster.

This apart, if you have a phone which can accessed remotely, it is relatively easy to protect it from this practice of hacking, though most people do not bother to do this. All it takes, even if you do not use this remote facility, is a password which will prevent unauthorised access.

So as all and sundry scramble onto the compensation bandwagon, a question needs to be posed as to how and why this practice of hacking escalated to become so widespread as appears to be the case.
Mainly of course it all it boils down to a few simple facts:-
  1.  If it can so easily be done, there people out there, who will seek to do it for personal gain.
  2. Can the picture emerging, ever be the true actuality?
  3. Has hacking really been achieved on the massive scale claimed?
  4. Will we never know the true back story?
  5. Can the people who authorised the hacking be made to confess?
  6. Are the people who actually achieved it, prepared to spill the beans?
Without these simple truths coming to light, it will remain a long dark tunnel and people will realise they could have been a little more circumspect, for with hindsight they could have easily protected themselves from this practice.
